Learning to Surf in Kuta Beach

I decided to learn to surf in Kuta Beach during my 8 days stay there. I took 3 - 4 hours lessons for 4 days. The lessons were given by a surfing company sponsored by Hard Rock Hotel. I was taught by 2 indonesian twin boys who hardly spoke english. However, they were so sweet, and boy did they have patience! The water was incredibly warm and there was no seaweed! It was so frustrating trying to learn at first, but once I was finally standing on the board and riding a small wave, it was an amazing feeling. I can see how this can be an addicting sport. Surfing is definitely a lot harder than it looks! I am so glad I did it.. and I can't wait to do it again once I get back to California.
