Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef is the largest reef in the world. It contains the world's largest collection of coral reefs, with over 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of molluscs. The best view of the reef is from the air for a larger look, or underwater for a closer look. The following are some pics of the Barrier Reef taken from a diving boat. We took a diving trip out to the reef from Cairns. The reef was incredible, with all kinds of caves and crevices everywhere. There were manta rays and many different kinds of fish. I was told there was a reef shark, but since we were behind all the rest of the divers, he swam away before we got to see him. Unfortunately I didn't get any pics from underwater, only a underwater video which was pretty neat. This was my first open water dive without an instructor so I was a bit nervous under water. Here are just a few I took above the water. For some really incredible photographs of the reef underwater, please feel free to check out professional photographer, Q.T. Luong's website Q.T.
