Fiji
Fiji is located in the South Pacific and consists of over 350 tropical islands. Since there are so many different islands, you can stay on the coast on one of the main islands, or choose one of the off shore islands. Some islands offer quite luxurious and expensive lodging. It can be quite difficult to get from one island to another as transportation is quite limited.. and since everything is on Fijian time, plan ahead. However, the weather is near perfect and the sun shines almost every day of the year so it's a perfect getaway spot for some R & R. Fiji also has some of the best snorkeling and dive spots in the world. Not to mention some of the best surf spots. : ) I went to Fiji for 8 days after leaving Australia. Fiji was the last stop before we headed back to New Zealand and flew back to L.A. We were exhausted from travelling by the time we got to Fiji, so we used our time in Fiji for some well needed R & R. We stayed at the Hideaway Resort on the coral coast which we found in our Lonely Planet book, and was pretty reasonable considering the high price of lodging in Fiji. This hotel was great. Every night the locals put on a show in the dining area and down the road they had a firewalk and kava ceremony which was great. The people are so incredible friendly in Fiji... Everywhere you go, people greet you with "Bula!" which means hello and a smile. We did go to Beachcomber Island, where we dived an old plane wreck, did a lot of snorkeling, and Ken surfed one of the big breaks, Frigates on a surf safari off the coral coast. It was a blast. Below are some pics of our travels. Please click each picture to see more of the destination |
