Australia
Australia Map Australia is the sixth largest country in the world. It has over 7,000 beaches; the largest ever for a country, as well as more than 40 million kangaroos. The country is divided into 6 states and 2 territories. Australia's landscape changes from hot and dry territories, to dense tropical rainforests, to the incredible beaches located in the south. There is so much to see in Australia. I went to Australia in July 2001 for 2 1/2 weeks after travelling in New Zealand and Indonesia. I had been travelling for about 2 months about then, when my boyfriend flew over to join me for my last month of travel. We purchased a Boomerang Pass from Quantas airlines that enabled us to fly throughout the country pretty cheaply. We packed quite a lot in that 2 1/2 weeks. We flew from Auckland to Melbourne to Darwin, to Cairns, to Brisbane and to Fraser Island and from there to Fiji. Australia is an incredible country and is so diverse. The Great Barrier Reef and the Fraser Island were major highlights for me. I also enjoyed the Sunshine Coast and seeing some of the outback near Darwin. The beaches here are indeed beautiful, except for all the sharks and jellyfish. : ) Overall, it was an amazing journey and I can't wait to go back and visit all the places I didn't get to see. Below are some pics I took during my short time there. Please click each picture to see more of the destination |
